Ireland's Taylor Presented With Aiba Award
BY BERNARD O'NEILL

Ireland's World lightweight champion Katie Taylor believes that the female version of the noble art can make a big impression when it makes its Olympic debut at the 30th Olympiad in London in 2012.
Taylor, who claimed her third AIBA World title in a row in Barbados in September, was presented with her second AIBA World female boxer of the year award in succession by AIBA President Dr Ching-Kuo Wu in Almaty, Kazakhstan today (2nd November 2010).
The 24-year-old Bray woman also won this award in Moscow in 2008.
Speaking at today's award ceremony in Almaty, Taylor, the current European and European Union champion, accepted the award on behalf of all the people who worked so hard to make women's boxing an Olympic sport.
"I would like to thank AIBA for this award. It's a huge honour to receive this award above all the great female boxers in the world, she said.
"I'm so happy that women's boxing is included in the London Olympics and I would like to collect this award on behalf of everyone who made that happen. In London 2012 we are going to show the world what women's boxing can do.
